Ilam Tour Overview

One of the best places to visit in Ilam is the tea gardens. You can walk through the fields and see how tea is picked. The workers there are very friendly. Sometimes they may even let you try picking tea leaves. After walking in the tea garden, you can visit a tea factory and learn how tea is made. If you like tea, this place will make you very happy.
Another peaceful place in Ilam is Mai Pokhari. It is a small lake surrounded by trees and flowers. The lake is clean, and you can see your reflection in it. People believe it is holy and come here to pray and make wishes. There are walking paths around the lake where you can enjoy nature and listen to birds singing.
You can also visit temples and small villages during your tour. One nice village is Antu. From Antu Danda (hill), you can see the sunrise very early in the morning. The sun slowly comes up from the hills, and the sky changes color. It is one of the best views in Ilam. You will feel calm and happy just watching the sun rise.

Ilam Tour Itinerary
Expand AllOur journey starts early in the morning from Kathmandu. We will travel by road all the way to Ilam. The drive is long, about 12 to 13 hours, but it is filled with pretty views of hills, rivers, and small villages. We will stop for lunch along the way. When we finally reach Ilam Bazaar, we will check into a hotel and rest. The weather in Ilam is cool and fresh. After a long ride, relaxing at the hotel will feel nice.
The next day, we will wake up early and have a warm breakfast. Then we will drive for about 1 and a half hours to a place called Antu Danda. This is one of the best spots in Ilam to see the sunrise. If the sky is clear, we can also see parts of Mount Kanchenjunga, which is a very tall mountain. After enjoying the view, we will travel to Mai Pokhari. Mai Pokhari is a peaceful lake at a high place, about 2438 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by green trees and flowers. Many birds and butterflies live here. After walking around the lake, we will go to our hotel nearby and rest for the night.
In the morning, we will eat breakfast and begin our drive to Pashupatinagar. This is a small town near the border with India. We can look around and enjoy the view. After that, we will go to Fikkal, another town in Ilam. Fikkal is known for its local markets and food. We can try some local dishes and snacks there. In the evening, we will check into a hotel in Fikkal and stay overnight.
Today, we will first go to Kanyam, the most famous tea garden in Ilam. The green tea fields stretch across the hills and look very beautiful. We can walk around the garden and take pictures. After that, we will drive to a town called Itahari. When we reach there, we will explore Itahari Bazar and look at the shops and streets. At night, we will stay in a hotel in Itahari.
This is the last day of our trip. After breakfast at the hotel, we will get into our vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu. The ride takes about 6 to 7 hours. We can enjoy the last views of the countryside during the ride and talk about the fun memories from our trip.
